Mister Gang
Mister Gang est un groupe de reggae français originaire de l’Essonne. Formé en 1990, le gang enchaîne les concerts, monte son label, et sort en 1999 « Liberté illégale », un premier album entièrement autoproduit. L’album recèle des titres qui s’inscrivent dans un registre varié, allant du roots au ragga, dont certains titres restent, 25 ans après, toujours d’actualité. Le Gang défend sur scène leur reggae où transpirent toutes sortes d’influences telles que le rock, le groove (funk, soul, R’n’b), le Hip hop ou la musique électronique.
Après la sortie de son second album, et plus de 1 000 concerts, le groupe décide d’un commun accord de mettre un terme à l’aventure en 2004. Mais c’était sans compter sur l’amitié très forte et la complicité forgée au cours de toutes ces années de vie commune, sur la route comme en studio. Il est difficile de résister à l’appel du public et de la musique. Le Gang est de retour, avec une envie de jouer et de partager et diffuser son message engagé et musical, partout en France, et même au-delà, pour l’ancienne comme la nouvelle génération.
Mister Gang is a French reggae band from Essonne. Formed in 1990, the band played concert after concert, started their own label, and released “Liberté illégale” in 1999, their first entirely self-produced album. The album features tracks spanning a wide range of styles, from roots to ragga, some of which remain relevant even 25 years later. On stage, the band performs their brand of reggae, which draws on a variety of influences such as rock, groove (funk, soul, R&B), hip-hop, and electronic music.
After the release of their second album and more than 1,000 concerts, the group mutually decided to call it quits in 2004. But they hadn’t counted on the strong friendship and bond forged over all those years of sharing their lives together, both on the road and in the studio. It’s hard to resist the call of the audience and the music. The Gang is back, eager to perform, share, and spread its socially conscious and musical message throughout France—and even beyond—for both the older and younger generations.
